1. The dotted note

     Take the value of the note before the dot. Cut that value in half then add the two values together.   For example in the last bar you have a dotted half note. Take the half note. It is equal to 2 beats. Then take half the value of that which is 1 beat. Add the two values together and you get 3 beats.

2. 3/4 Time

   3/4 time means that you have 3 beats in a bar. Each bar begins on beat 1 and ends on beat 3.

3. Alternate your fingers

    Always alternate your fingers and make sure that no parts of your hand are on the guitar when you are practicing.
