1. Ties

    When two of the same note are attached with a line they are "tied" together. To count this properly you add the value of the two notes together and hold the note for the value of the two notes added together. For example. In bar 1 of Bass Note Ties, you have 1 quarter note tied to another quarter note. A quarter note is worth 1 beat, so you add 1 beat plus 1 beat and the 2 tied quarter notes are worth 2 beats.

Only play the 1st of the tied notes, hold the second of the tied notes.
