Pentatonic Scales
1. A pentatonic scale is a musical scale with five notes per octave. Pentatonic scales are used very commonly In guitar playing. The below you will see 5 different patterns for pentatonic scales. The most commonly used pentatonic scale is the 1st scale of the patterns.
Study the 1st scale and practice it going up and down on every fret on the guitar.
Please note: The pentatonic scale can be either major or minor depending on which note you consider to be the tonic. In the following scale diagrams, the red dots are the minor tonic and the blue dots are the major tonics.
